Extended note · Hamburg to Berlin, without a public posting
A finance controller with eight years in a Hamburg industrial group wanted a controller role with broader international exposure. Public listings either underpaid or demanded industry experience she did not have.
Through hidden-market search mapping we identified fourteen companies with recent expansion filings or leadership retirements. Three warm introductions came via a university alumni circle and a former auditor. One of those conversations turned into an internal referral; the role never appeared online. Timeline from intake to accepted offer: four and a half months, including her notice period.
What slowed the search: two target companies went quiet after reorganisation freezes. We replaced them rather than waiting indefinitely — a decision that felt abrupt at the time but kept momentum.
